Amino Acids
What is Amino Acid?
Amino acids are organic molecules that contains amine and carboxyl functional groups. They are the basic building blocks used to make proteins and are therefore a core component of living organisms. We depend on dietary and supplementary intake of amino acids for our protein needs, proteins are assimilated based on the available amino acid pool, thus, intake of quality amino acids is very important for efficient protein synthesis. A combination of twenty amino acids forms the thousands of proteins the human body relies on every day.
Applications:
Nutritional Supplements, Cosmetic Products, Energy Drinks, Infant Nutrition, Animal Nutrition
Why Are Amino Acids Important?
- Build Muscle
Muscles are made mainly from protein, which amino acids help build.
- Grow and Repair Tissue
Many amino acids, such as leucine and methionine, are used to grow and repair tissues. They’re important for healing wounds and injuries.
- Make Hormones
Amino acids help make many hormones. For example, phenylalanine is needed to produce the hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine. Other amino acids play a role in making thyroid and growth hormones.
- Boost the Immune System
Amino acids are an important nutrient for immune cells. They’re needed for these cells to work properly.
- MakeBrain Chemicals
Certain amino acids, such as tryptophan and phenylalanine, are used to make important chemicals in the brain, called neurotransmitters. These include dopamine and serotonin, which can affect your mood, sleep, and appetite.
- Provide Energy
Although your body prefers to burn carbohydrates or fat for energy, it can use protein as needed. After breaking down protein, the amino acids supply energy.
- Support theDigestive System
Amino acids help keep your digestive system running. They fuel the membrane that lines the small intestine and help your gut make key proteins and chemicals.

What is Vitamin? Vitamins are organic compounds that are required for life. They are essential for normal growth and development of multicellular organism which make bodies work properly. There are thirteen “essential vitamins”, meaning those the body cannot synthesize, all of which you need regularly and in small amounts for various vital bodily functions. What is Nutritional Supplement? Nutritional supplements are meant to complement a healthy diet, not replace it. If you're in good health and you eat a wide variety of foods, you likely don't need supplements. But sometimes, fortified foods and dietary supplements may help provide one or more nutrients. A supplement might be recommended if you don't eat enough healthy foods or your diet isn't varied. Many people take supplements to increase their daily consumption of particular nutrients and improve their overall health and well-being. For example, a multivitamin, probiotics, fish oil, or melatonin. They are all considered dietary supplements.
